“Electricity is undoubtedly trending toward generation from renewable resources and eliminating fossil fuels. This is going to involve new challenges and consequences related to the intermittent operation of current power stations,” explained Santiago García, Technical Director of RENOVETEC.

At the round table discussion “The Future of Energy,” moderated by Pedro Soria, Technical Manager of MAPFRE Global Risks, Santiago García, Technical Director of RENOVETEC, Antonio García, Director of Upstream Insurance and Markets for REPSOL, and Yuri Rassega, Director of Cybersecurity for ENEL, discussed the risk management challenges entailed by the evolution of the energy sector.

After participating in the round table, Santiago García gave a video interview where he briefly explained the direction the energy industry is taking, the effects of the reduced usage of power stations on maintenance, and his impressions of events like the International Global Risks Workshop.

Santiago is the author of the books Organización y Gestión Integral de Mantenimiento (Comprehensive Maintenance Organization and Management), Operación y Mantenimiento de Centrales de Ciclo Combinado (Operating and Maintaining Combined-Cycle Plants), Cogeneración: Diseño, Operación y Mantenimiento de Plantas (Cogeneration: Plant Design, Operation and Maintenance), La contratación del mantenimiento (Maintenance Contracts), Motores de gas en plantas de cogeneración (Gas Engines in Co-generation Plants), and Ingeniería Termosolar (Thermosolar Engineering), among many others.
